As a freshman, living in a residence hall was one of the best decisions I ever made. I continued to live with my Pomfret Hall roommate along with our other friends that we met in the Pomfret study rooms even when we moved to off-campus housing.
An Indian International Student Experience at the U of A
My name is Neel Chanchad and I am an international doctoral student from India currently studying at the University of Arkansas in the Department of Industrial Engineering. My long term goal is to work with some Fortune 500 companies to help them optimize their processes, for example, the optimization of the J.B.Hunt logistic system or maybe optimizing Amazon Prime delivery services by optimally designing the transportation network of trucks. What’s It Like To Be an Indonesian Student at the U of A?
Hi! My name is Patrick Kwok, and I am an undergraduate (Junior) majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I am also the President of the Indonesian Student Organization called Persatuan Mahasiswa Indonesia Amerika Serikat or shortened as PERMIAS. I am studying abroad at the U of A in hopes as I pursue my dream goals, which are to become the chairman of my father’s company and also my own IT start-up company. A little bit about me: My interests outside of school are playing music and also sports! I can play the piano, a Chinese instrument called Guzheng, a little bit of violin, and during this quarantine, I am currently learning how to play guitar by myself. Furthermore, I’m very passionate about sports–that is one of the reasons why I chose the U of A.
Overcoming Challenges Faced by International Students
Being a foreigner anywhere is never easy and it can be even harder when you are student. Nonetheless, being an international student is a great honor and an adventure. Even though being an international student is fun and exciting there are also some difficulties in various aspects of studying and living abroad. I’d like to share my experience on what challenges I’ve faced as an international student and what you can do if you find yourself feeling the same way.
