Being an international student, there are a lot of things that you do not get to bring from home. For example: your favorite shower curtain that has seen you perform your best Rihanna impression or the coffee maker that you snuck coffee from when your mom was not looking. Or maybe you just want to have some money in your pocket. There are numerous opportunities for campus jobs that you can get at the University of Arkansas. This also will open doors for you, for example you can then apply for a social security number and get your own phone contract if you want one. Or you can hop on a friend’s and let them do all the work for you.

You can even go as far as to get a job in your field and it will help you towards your degree, similar to an internship. Some can be counted as degree credits or can put you in contact with people that can help you find a job after graduation or offer you one. This can be a great networking tool also that will help you in more ways than you can imagine.

Jobs can range from stacking bookshelves, to answering questions about the department you are working for and just being a friendly face and voice for a frightened student. There are a large number of job opportunities in the Arkansas Union, from working with Chartwells in the cafeteria to Off Campus Connections and New Student and Family Services. You will make friends that you may even have a class with and to top it all off it will provide you with some extra money and you can go ahead and splurge on that extra scoop of ice cream at Andy’s.
