My name is Jackson Tidwell and I have the great pleasure of serving as a Graduate School Ambassador for the 2017-2018 school year. Although I am not a native Arkansan, being from Texarkana, Texas I always heard about the great things that the University of Arkansas and the city of Fayetteville had to offer. After spending two years out in the workforce upon receiving my undergraduate degree, I knew I wanted to find a place that was close to home but also had strong academic programs, outstanding school spirit, and the real world experience that I would need in order to be successful in my intended field. I have now been on campus for almost nine months and I couldn’t be happier. I am in my second semester in the Masters of Higher Education Program as well as a graduate assistant in the Greek Life office.
The University of Arkansas has impacted my life because it has given me the experience I will need in order to be successful as a future higher education professional. The University of Arkansas is the largest university in the state with countless student clubs and organizations as well as fraternities and sororities. Through my graduate assistantship I have been able to mentor students and have learned ways to make their college experience less stressful, more efficient, and overall a more positive environment for learning.
Secondly, the University of Arkansas has impacted my life because I have obtained the sense of community I wanted when I decided to come back to school. The Northwest Arkansas Area is filled with plenty of things to do outdoors, the coolest local restaurants, and various events to attend such as the Farmers Market or a concert in the Walmart Amphitheatre! Hope to see you around campus!
