The part of college that you dream about, especially when you are up at 3 a.m. on a Saturday doing homework, is GRADUATION! Lets be honest, it’s the real motivation of almost every college student to wake up for that 8 a.m. class.
People love to say, “College years go by swiftly” and this has never been truer than in my senior year. Being an international student, I often get questions like: “What are you going to do when you graduate? Are you going back home?” which when starting off I could have answered right away with no thought behind it. But now, after being at a place for 4 years that I have become accustomed to, that question is 1000x harder to answer.
Being a senior at the University of Arkansas has taught me lessons that I would have never thought I would have learned. It taught me how to really use and stop ignoring the emails from the Career Development Center and how to balance school work and job hunting while making business attire seem like casual clothes because you have been wearing suits and skirts for a week straight because of classes and interviews and career fairs. I also learned to not be embarrassed to reach out to professors that have never met me, because I need their advice, and they love it when you stop by their office hours, too.
One of my favorite parts of the University of Arkansas might just have to be seeing young freshman, so eager and excited about college. I remember when that was me…before I took University Chemistry! I love to get questions about college and how to better someone’s college experience, especially international students. I absolutely love the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and the people, and wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else to spend my college career. And in May, I’ll leave my name on senior walk for my kids to see one day.
