1. Why did you choose the U of A and where are you from?HAley

Fayetteville became my official “home away from home” in August 2012, the year I began my journey at the University of Arkansas. My story started in a little town on the other side of the state called Pocahontas, where I grew up with ~6500 other people. Like many others all across Arkansas, Razorback football and basketball were staples in my home, and I grew up with the “woo pig” mentality. As I got older, becoming a Razorback was something that just made sense. I wanted to be a part of the Razorback cologuard, be a part of the U of A STEM programs, and be just far enough away from home, but just close enough.

2. What do you like most about the U of A?

HAleyThe U of A is a place where everyone can find a place that suits them. There are tons clubs on campus, intramural sports, fun events, and more. There’s something for everyone! Professors at U of A are pretty awesome! They always have enough office hours for students to utilize, and will often work with students to make sure they can get the instruction they need. Finding mentors is also something that’s very important, so don’t be afraid to reach out and develop that dynamic with professors!

3. What do you do for fun in Fayetteville?

Fayetteville is such a lively place! If you want to go off campus to see baseball, you can catch a Naturals game at Arvest ballpark. The nightlife in Fayetteville is great; seeing a concert at George’s or a show at the Walton Arts Center is always a good way to spend an evening. If you want to pet animals, and don’t mind a 45-minute car ride, the Drive Through Wildlife Safari in Gentry is awesome! I got to pet a kangaroo, my all-time favorite animal.  Lokomotion is a fun place to ride go-karts, play laser tag, go on bumper boats, or play arcade games. There are also some pretty intense escape rooms to try out, and awesome local coffee shops, food trucks, and small businesses. The drive-in movie is also one of my favorite pastimes.

4. What will you miss the most when you leave Fayetteville?

It’s a little cliche, but I’ll miss it all. I found out so much about myself at the University of Arkansas, and about who I want to be as I take on new adventures in life. I have made lifelong friends, great connections, and have enough stories to last forever. WPS!HAley
